Welcome to Weft Counselling Service
Counselling offers a safe and respectful relationship with someone who will give you uninterrupted time, listening to your thoughts and feelings with compassion and acceptance. I work with people both face to face, but also via telephone or online, whichever works best for you.
I understand that it can take a lot of courage to take the first step into counselling. To ask for, and to be willing to receive help from another person can take a lot of courage and it is important for you to feel comfortable with your counsellor. I hope that the following will give you a sense of who I am and how I work.
In our sessions together you will find me to be an open, thoughtful, and reflective person who strives to work with compassion, empathy and humour. I pay close attention to the needs to my clients and will always work to make our time together feel a safe place for you. I have a wide experience working with people of varied sexualities, ethnicities and cultural backgrounds. I have particular experience and understanding of living with the effects of the addictive behaviour of a loved one, anxiety and depression, and the effect of physical disabilities and chronic pain.
My training is in Integrative Psychosynthesis. This means that I believe that the relationship between the counsellor and the client is the key to healing.
Integrative means that my training many different therapeutic approaches including Gestalt, Psycho-Dynamic, Jungian and Humanistic. I believe that emotional, environmental, physical and spiritual factors all play apart in defining who we are. Because everyone is unique, I work in a way that suits you and will adapt to your needs.
Psychosynthesis can be translated to mean 'with soul', which makes me what is known as a Transpersonal Therapist. I see any spiritual beliefs you might (or might not) hold as being an important part of who you are. I would never judge or belittle you for any of your beliefs.
